HOW I FOUND MY STYLE IN ART
For years, I knew that my work was good but I wanted to have a style that would stand out! A style that people could say "That is a Diana Castillo piece"!

There are three techniques I always enjoyed.

1. Realism! I was never too crazy about abstract but in love with realism and hyper-realism art. I even completed a few photo art portraits.
2. 3D! Something about sculptures and 3D work has always intrigued me. Molding clay and creating figurines was a huge part of my childhood.
3. Bling! Bling! We all remember blinged phones. I use to sit for hours with a friend as we applied rhinestones and different resin cabochons on phone cases.
All three techniques, I combined onto one art canvas and it was more beautiful than I imagined! Acrylic paint, Impasto, Swarovski Crystals, glitter and mica flakes, all incorporated into a Mixed Media Art piece that became my very own style. Something unique and different! That's how my style was birthed!
THE STORY BEHIND THE ARTIST
Since I was a small child, I was drawing and doodling pictures. I remember my parents telling me it was a gift from God. Growing up in church, God was always an inspiration in my life. My dream was to become an artist.
However, it was in my 20’s that the struggles as a single mother were weighing down on me. All I could do was work to provide for my son. I lost sight of my dream. I worked job to job, putting aside my God given gift.

As I approached my late 20’s, I began to reflect on how much I had magnified my problems and decreased God. I took a different perspective on my situation, as I was praying and deepening my relationship with Him. I started drawing and painting again, mostly chalk pastels, charcoal, and acrylic painting.
At the age of 33, I was jobless for a few months. Despite being without a job, God made sure to supply all of my needs. He began to pour down visions into me that inspired a new style in my artwork. I was reminded of how good He always has been. How He never abandoned me and how He continues providing for my son and me, as a good Father should. God was revealing that my talent isn’t for myself but to bring Him glory and to be used to help grow His kingdom. I am to paint intentionally to bring hope to others in Christ Jesus and remind them through my artwork that God is love and that He is always with us.

Every single painting since that time is inspired by biblical scriptures and purposed to give you hope in God, to renew and restore you in Him!
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. John 6:37

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
